If you are serious about marketing Avon on the Internet then you must be on Twitter. Some representatives may not be comfortable launching an all out Twitter marketing blitz, because they have a lot of family members and friends following them. You don’t want to be seen as an obnoxious spammer and that is logical. However, the solution is to just create a separate Twitter account for your Avon business. You can of course promote Avon from both accounts, but be more aggressive with your dedicated marketing account.
Before you go out and start spamming the world with links to your Avon blog, let’s discuss how to build relationships in social networking. There are a million articles written on this, and a lot of it is just common sense. Twitter allows you to make friendly contacts with people, build relationships, and this should be your goal. Speak to your potential customers and recruits one on one through private messages. Don’t just send out general promotional Tweets every 5 minutes hoping someone clicks on your link. I don’t know about you, but when people I follow start doing this I quickly unfollow them.
Here is an example of a conversation I had with a new customer of mine on Twitter.
After doing a search for people talking about hair extensions I approached a few of them to let them know that Avon offers great clip on extensions.
First I follow the person I am addressing then I mention them:
@xxxxxxx Hi, did you know Avon sells clip on hair extensions?
(link to my blog )
She took the time to follow me back and private messaged me in return
that is cool, are you an Avon Lady
Yes,
The link is to my blog, it links to my Avon Store if you want to buy
Are they good quality?
Yes I have 3 of them, Email me and I will send you pics.
(my email address)
I did get an email from this customer, and emailed her some pictures of the extensions I own. Not only did she purchase, but she forwarded my blog link to her friends, and informed them to contact me if they had any questions. I have not heard from her friends, but it feels good knowing that I have potential leads from a 3 second Twitter conversation.
I have done this numerous times and most of the time it is just this simple. You may also notice that I directed her to email me. You want to collect emails so you can keep in touch with your customers on a monthly basis.
So I am sure you are a bit skeptical and wondering how many people I mention before I get a figurative bite. The answer is about 40% and out of that 40% about 50% purchases.
So if I send out 10 mentions I get 2 sales. On a good day I will send out about 50 mentions resulting in about 10 sales. Now you know why I say Twitter is the most powerful tool an Avon Rep has!

It‘s quite in here! Why not leave a response?
